Segment 1 (5:20): We start the show with Mr. Fitness- Richard Derwald. Richard is also a Senior Consultant over at Erie County Senior Services. We start by talking about minimizing the effects of aging. Richard tells us a story about age reversal and how it may be hard to understand what it is that they are working on. Richard even goes into scientific detail about what happens to our cells as we age. Richard tells us some other companies that are working on anti-aging and what’s going on with them. Segment 2 (19:19): Next we welcome Dr. Damian Nesser, Doctor of Education, who wrote a book titled “Bloom Where You Are.” He starts to tell us how his mother was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and how that is one of the four types of Dementia. Dr. Nesser tells us how he moved from Florida to help his mom after finding out about her diagnosis and what was going on in her life that prompted him to become her full time caregiver. Next he tells us the changes he started to see in his mother once he moved in while she had Stage 3 Dementia. Finally, he tells how how his mom handled this new relationship between the two of them. Segment 3 (33:10): Then we are joined by Kerry Peak, Director of the Cheektowaga Senior Center. Kerry tells us what it is that they offer that gets Seniors in the door- University Express Classes. If you’re wondering if a Senior Center is for you, this will get you to try it out and then see all of the other amazing things they offer! You will want to hear about these classes. Kerry gives us all of the information you need. Next she tells us about Senior Center Trivia and how you play against other Centers. Then Kerry tells us how as things change in their area (for example rules changing for Real ID), they will have people come in to help their members with these changes.
